Transfer Memo text to RTF Memo

Hi All,

I have tried and cant get this to work.

I would like to transfer text from a standard Memo to a RTF Memo field. Is this at all possible?

Are you wishing to do this via an operation, fields on a form, or some other method?

I was trying with Record Update operation.

How would you do it?

While I haven't tried the following code with an update operation, I see no reason why it can't be used. As is, the code works fine. I won't lay claim to this as it is directly from the help files.

'Table TEST1 has 1 x memo field called MEM_TST_1
'Table TEST1 has 1 x RTF Memo field called MEM_TST_2
t = table.open("test1")
'Get a pointer to the RTF memo field
f = t.field_get("mem_tst_2")
'Get contents of normal memo field
f2=t.Mem_tst_1
'Create an RTF object, that is initially a NULL value
r = rtf.create("")
'Get the binary data that is currently in the MEM_TST2 field and assign it to the binary_text property of the rtf object.
'The RTF object now contains the same value as the memo field.
'Please make sure that the RTF Memo field is not blank'
r.Binary_Text = f.value_get()
'Set the font (name and point size) and color for next
r.set_font("arial,10","black")
'Set insertion
r.insert(f2, 0)
'Put the table into change mode
t.change_begin()
'Put the value in the rtf object's "binary_text" property into the RTF memo field.
f.value_put(r.Binary_Text)
'Save the changes
t.change_end(.T.)
'Close the table
t.close()

Let us know if you make it work using an update operation.

Why not just change the field structure from Memo to RTF?
