Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Bubble Help

Have just downloaded Build 1492_3072 hoping that the problem with the bubble help would be fixed. Although reference to this is mentioned in bug fix section, it still refuses to work for me. I did manage to get it to work once some time ago, but then I changed something and the bubble help vanished. Although you can enter text under both Label Bubble Help Text and Bubble Help Text on a field, when you change to another field the same text appears and the same applies if you then remove the text ie:- it vanishes from the first field.
Has anyone else encounted this problem or is it just me ?

      Re: Bubble Help

Using 1481-3072. Just checked an application that I just finished and the bubble help works fine. I checked it several times moving the cursor all over the form and the bubble only appears when it is suppose to. I have two bubble helps very close to each other on the form and neither showed the same text.

toby, try removing onflyoverevent code, and setting the button to a single, solid color, and see if that makes any difference.

          Re: Bubble Help

Sorry Jim, but I'm running 1481-3092 and just tried it on regular fields. The bubble help will display on the first field but not on the others. Sometimes it will flash when you move the mouse over it and sometimes nothing. It's just not reliable.

            Re: Bubble Help

Fred (and Toby), I'm not seeing the same problem here, but there are lots and lots of different options for how the bubble help for a field in the form layout might be set up. Suggest you send / post an example database that we can open and study to see if your options are different from ours. Please. If you do this, include instructions for us to follow to find the problem fields, along with a description of how you want the bubble help to work. -- tom

              Re: Bubble Help

I just found a bug with bubble help when used on a calcuated field and the help is a long statement (works find with a short statment). When you mouse over the field nothing happens. As soon as you leave the field the bubble pops up for split second and then disapears. Maybe this is the problem some have been seeing.

I have sent in a bug report & I have the latest beta from today.

                Re: Bubble Help

Still a problem. It will work on some fields and not on others. I've even deleted the field, added it back, entered new bubble help and it still does the same thing. If you move the cursor away from the fiels or button it may flash up for a second and then go away but when it does the cursor is out of the field area.

                  Re: Bubble Help

I have narrowed this problem down some more. I am seeing the problem rmsoftware has in the post above this. It happens in any type of fields. I am seeing problem when bubble help is over x amount of characters. When I shorten the help it then works correctly. Since I have the latest patch I am guessing they are considering this a low priority bug.
