The app is running on XP Pro SP2 boxes talking to a server over a peer to peer LAN. On 4 of the workstations the "<New Record"> row in the order items browse object appears correctly and can be used to enter multiple items for an order. See, image attached. Arrows point to the "<New Item>" row I'm talking about.
However, on the 5th workstation the "<New Item>" row never appears. The user cannot enter more than one item for an order.
All workstations are running the same build of A5v8 Runtime. The problem occurs at only one work station. It occurs whether the app is run from the local shadow folder or whether it's run directly from the server over the LAN.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I'm thinking maybe one or more of the Windows system files is corrupted or out of date on the misbehaving machine, but don't know if this would cause this kind of problem. While there are innumerable message board threads discussing problems of one kind or another with the embedded browse object, I found none like this one.
The machine in question has 512 mb of RAM. The problem occurs immediately upon starting the app after a reboot.
The item table includes a post field rule that "adds" the extended field value for the item to an ord_total field in the ord_hdr table. The embedded browse object includes a script in the browse's fetch event to refresh the display of the ord_total field on the form. Otherwise there's nothing else going on while items are being entered.
Any suggestions on how to go about trouble shooting the "troubled" work station would be appreciated.
