Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Netmailer

Netmailer Pro seems expensive compared to the standalone mail list products I'm currently investigating. And I see posts regarding problems with integrating Netmailer into A5 version 8. So a couple of questions please

    1. Am I correct in thinking that unlike the main A5 app there is no Netmailer demo available?

    2. Are addins ever run on promotional discounts?

    Thanks
    Peter

    Re: Netmailer

    Hi Peter,

I'm assuming you have the full (not trial) version of A5V8 - if so, isn't the new "Netmailer" free as part of the A5V8 purchase?

      Re: Netmailer

      Hi Darren,

Is it?? ..... I have just bought the full version of A5 Pro and am finding my way around. However I thought I had to buy the additional AddIns and my AddIns Manager shows no installed items at all.

I saw the ability to send and receive emails to contacts but now reading the online Product Tour section on Programable Email it seems I can indeed do all kinds of things such as monitor emails for subscribe to newsletters etc.

I obviously need to dig deeper into the software before posting! :o .... looks like a case of RTFM again I suppose!

      Thanks
      Peter

        Re: Netmailer

        Peter,

I'm not at my A5 PC at the moment - perhaps I should wait until I have the info. in front of me before I post

Let me check my records and get back to you later - I may be "barking up the wrong tree" and don't want to get your hopes up.
        Regards,

          Re: Netmailer

          peter,

You can easily build it if you prefer although it is much easier with the mailer. It is just a slick, quick way of getting it without so much work.

I do 25 - 30 emails per day from alpha. I love how I can quickly make about any kind of page to be sent. I have done a 25000+ mailer that took a while to send. i didn't use the mailer program.

            Hi Dave

Thanks for the input here. As you will have gathered, I am a complete newbie to A5 - I am supposed to be a photographer - not a coder - after all! :D - However, once I have familiarised myself with the software, I guess I'll be able to see what I can sort out myself. I want to get the mailing list management side of things sorted quite quickly so I'll look at that in more detail now; sounds as if you have this running well.

Are you just doing simple mass mailings? Or using the full facilities of A5 here? I need to be able to manage Newsletter lists, subscribe, unsubscribe, double opt ins etc along with different mailings to different groups of people, in various databases all sorted by various filters or categories.

              Re: Netmailer

              Welcome to Alpha Peter.

You'll need to check to see if Netmailer was included with your purchase as I think it was only used in promotions. If it is part of your purchase, you'll get a dl link to dl NetMailer 3. If you didn't, contact Alpha support & they will send you the link. If you are using Vista, V3 won't work but an email to NetMailer tech support will get you a free upgrade to version 4. I haven't used it yet, but it looks pretty good.

              Good luck.

                Peter,

I'm back at my PC - I was thinking of HighImpact Email 4.0 which was included in my purchase. HighImpact Email 4.0 isn't integrated into A5.
