    Default "Right-click on ruler" question

I just stumbled across this and thought it would be awesome for handling the "different screen resolution" nightmare. However it seems to behave weirdly.

Right-clicking on the ruler shows an options window but the window doesn't stay open unless you hold down the mouse button. It sometimes stays open when "select all" precedes it, but it seems to depend on where you are on the ruler when you click.

You can still left-click on an option, or release the mouse button on an option, and it seems to choose it, except in the case of the option to "stretch width of selected objects when form is resized". No matter how I do this I see nothing happen when I resize the form.

Don't know if it matters but the form I tried it on contains a text object and button objects. I checked help but didn't find anything useful there.

    TIA

Works fine here. You have to right click on the ruler to select the objects in line below the point where you right clicked, hold, then run the cursor down the menu choices until you get to "Stretch .....".

    Now, how do you undo?

Did your objects actually stretch after selecting that?

I tried highlighting all then resizing form with mouse; nothing
I tried resizing through form & object properties; no change

Yes, when using it as designed. No hilighting all, no resizing through properties.

    Right click on the ruler.
A vertical line appears and any object directly below the point at which you clicked is selected. Those objects will be resized when you .......
Hold the right click and roll down the menu until you get to "Resize...."
    Release the right click.

It seems that all this accomplishes is to set the anchors for a group of objects to left, top, and right. The font of any text on an object is not resized.

I can get it to center, align left, etc. but not to resize.

The way it reads I got the impression that it would resize the object and MAYBE the font, as well, but neither happens.

You can get the same behavior by

    Create a form
size it to less than full screen
    add an object
set its properties, dimension, anchors like my screenshot
    save
    open form
    mazimize or resize form

Thanks for the detailed instructions Stan, I am able to get it to work now. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's the fix for dealing with different screen resolutions.

The fields (if I'm understanding and doing this correctly) maintain their positions, relative to staying centered on the screen and arrangement/placement relative to one another, but the buttons (and their fonts) look disproportionate.
