From the Alpha help file:

Passing Arrays to Functions
When you pass an array to a function, the receiving function defines the argument as a pointer.

Dim a[5] as C

a[1] = "a value"

my_function(a)

function as V (arr as P)

    ui_msg_box("Array Value", arr[1])

end function

Say What! Can anyone elaborate on this piece of code as I can't make any sense of it?

If it works don't bother...

Explanation:

The contents of the array is a C but the array self is a pointer type. See it as ByRef passing to change the values.

That's pretty clearly an error in documentation. It should read

Dim a[5] as C
a[1] = "a value"
my_function(a)
function [COLOR="Red"]my_function[/COLOR] as V (arr as P)
    ui_msg_box("Array Value", arr[1])
end function

Should be:

Chris,

Even better (and actually the preferred method) would be to use the "Comment" hotspot on the bottom of every help subject to suggest additions/corrections to the help files.

I have done this on numerous occaisions and so far have received responses back that the changes will be made, etc.....although I do not believe any so far have been changed but must be on a list for when they eventually do make said changes.
