Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

This approach also works for sales receipts as well. Very nice.

Re: Inserting records into QuickBooks invoice line table

Has anyone managed to create an invoice (lines and header) that include dates in the insert? I am able to create both lines and header as long as no date is used but as soon as I try and include a date it fails.

I have tried as many variations on the date format as I can think of, but so far no luck.

Re: Inserting records into QuickBooks invoice line table

Below is an example of an insert into invoice from the qodbc instructions.

          Code:
INSERT INTO "Invoice" ("CustomerRefListID", "ARAccountRefListID", "TxnDate", "RefNumber",
          "BillAddressAddr1", "BillAddressAddr2"BilllAddressCity", "BillAddressState", "BillAddressPostalCode", "BillAddressCountry", "IsPending", "TermsRefListID", "DueDate", "ShipDate", "ItemSalesTaxRefListID", "Memo", "IsToBePrinted", "CustomerSalesTaxCodeRefListID") VALUES ('470001-1071525403', '40000-933270541', {d'2002-10-01'}, '1', 'Brad Lamb', '1921 Appleseed Lane', 'Bayshore', 'CA', '94326', 'USA', 0, '10000-933272658', {d'2002-10-31'}, {d'2002-10-01'}, '2E0000-933272656', 'Memo Test', 0, '10000-999022286')
I have tried structuring the date as below,

          Code:
          		constshipDate = "{d" +chr(34) + padl(alltrim(str(year(shipDate))),4,"0") + "-"+ padl(alltrim(str(month(shipDate))),2,"0") + \
          		"-" + padl(alltrim(str(day(shipdate))),2,"0") + chr(34)+"}"
I have also tried it without the d, and I have tried using single quotes around the date i.e. {d'2002-10-01'}, {d"2002-10-01"}, {'2002-10-01'}, {"2002-10-01"}. None of these seem to work, and I am assuming it is the format that is wrong, as without any dates the insert works.

This doesn't look like Alpha DAO code. Where did you get this from?

Re: Inserting records into QuickBooks invoice line table

To insert the TrnDate into Quickbooks, use this code snippet as a guide:

              .
              .
              args.set("TxnDate","2007-12-09")
              .
              .

Note: the date must be in the YYYY-DD-MM format with leading zeros where needed for the day and the month.

Re: Inserting records into QuickBooks invoice line table

If you need some direction for the field name and data format for QODBC, go to:

                www.qodbc.com

then, navigate to the page titled "HOW QODBC INTERFACES WITH QUICKBOOKS". How you get to a page like this depends on the a number of factors: US or International edition of QuickBooks, whether the website is modified, etc. Select whether you want to look at transactions, lists, etc.

Once you figure out the table you need, select it, and then select the details at the end of the listing. That should bring you to a page that shows field names and validate (data format), among many other useful things.

Re: Inserting records into QuickBooks invoice line table

Thanks for the suggestions. If anyone is interested, the following explains the situation in better detail.

                  http://www.qdeveloper.com.au/forum.p...2&post_id=2088

I'd still be interested to hear if anyone is actually able to create invoices WITH dates using qodbc.

These lines from Jay's earlier post may hold a clue :-

                  args.add("DueDate",ctodt("10/31/2007 12:00:00 00 am"))
                  args.add("ShipDate",ctodt("10/01/2007 12:00:00 00 am"))

Both of those fields are Date fields not datetime, but A5 seems to try to turn them into datetime, whatever format they are presented in.
