Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        It sounds like you are just zipping up individual tables by choosing one, right clicking and then zipping. If so don't.

        Use the Main menu-->Tools-->Zip Database . You can pick and choose your tables, sets, what-have-you with this method. Much easier.

                :)

                SO close John--you did include the series_manuf set...but the set needed is the manuf_series set !! At least to bring up the form that is in your screenshot at the beginning of this thread.

                If you're willing to try, I'm willing to wait! :)

                Hey--not even sure If I will be the right person to help you but getting a sample for others to solve is the first step.

                  Switch to the detail view of the tables/sets tab of the control panel and note that you have your database spread across two directories. This is not an advisable way to do things and is leading to your difficulty in attaching a sample database here.

                      John,

                      The Choices expression you have is causing a problem--the tree does not show up at all--the properties will not show the choices because of the problem.

                      via the object explorer I found the expression to be

                      Code:
                      fp_choices_t_data_get('manuf_series.set', 'Manuf_name+Series->Series_name','alltrim(alltrim(Manuf_Name)+". "+alltrim(Series->Series_Name)+"|"+alltrim(Series->Series_id))', '','', '', topparent.this, '',.T.)
                      Maybe Stan can see something--I had replaced all the single quotes with double quotes (seemed the right thing to try!) but did not make a difference.

                      Topparent.this seems a bit odd to me.

                        Re: Sort on Tree Control

                        Mike,
                        Good Morning. Thank you. I did your suggestion but Nothing changed. Your suggestion, FP_choices..., is very good for another way of tree form. I like it.

                        I recognized my mistake when I used the "SET. External ..." Expression on Today. I could not figured it out before so that I started use other way(Value from table set) for Tree Control.

                        Mike, How about we are using the "set.external_record_content_get( )" ? Because It has the order, filter and level after content_expression.
                        I tried to write as "set.external_record_content_get("manuf_series","Manuf_Name+\".\"+
                        Series->Series_Name" [,order[,filter[,level]]])"
                        I completed the expression before the "Order expression" without problem.
                        My questions are
                        (1) what should be in the order expression? --> "manuf_name+series_name"
                        (2) Filter? Did I already filter it with content_expression (Series_name)? or It mean result field.
                        (3) Level?, as number 2 or Table Name?
                        (4) How do I get the result such as "Series_id"
                        (4) If I stay with the my original expression, I think the Display expression should be worked by Expression.

                          Mike,

                          I haven't gotten back into the database but the expression you created should be

                          Code:
                          fp_choices_t_data_get("manuf_series.set", "Manuf_name+Series->Series_name","alltrim(alltrim(Manuf_Name)+\".\"+alltrim(Series->Series_Name)+\"|\"+alltrim(Series->Series_id))","","", "", topparent.this,"",.T.)

                            Pretty large number of forms and tables. I have gone through the post and see no directions which form to address. Can you give a clue where to focus?

                              Yep!

                              That is what I converted it to as well but does not create a tree....I have since found out why---

                              Edit:--the expression is what was created by John/Alpha---I found it via the Object Explorer as his tree choices cannot be opened to see it.

                              John....the set being used manuf_series is still missing something as I cannot open it up for editing and it is not recognized by the function(s) being used either.

                              I suggest that before you attach anything to a post to actually use your zip and make sure it has what it needs to be used by others....actually unzip into its own folder, open it up with Alpha, and make sure all is correct.....because it is not currently.
