What do you think about asking Alpha to institute some additional processes to clean up forum threads, for example threads that go nowhere? Here is an example:

These nowhere threads make it very frustrating when looking for answers. Ideally, there would be ONE thread for each problem, with a definitive solution, although I know that is not exactly possible.
But it is possible for us to put together a process to either purge or suggest the purge of particular threads that are of no value. Given that "thread value" is subjective, I would suggest a process that includes two or three individuals that in effect vote on disposition. And before that, float a set of criteria to the members for approval. It can be a one time thrust, or a method that can be ongoing.
A subset of this, and more difficult, would be to remove any posts within the thread that did not contribute to the solution. That is near impossible and any removal process should not remove the forum's 'flavor'. That is, some of the non-solution threads are still illuminating or at least entertaining.
Other forums are very focused on "the problem" and "the solution" and the moderator identifies a post(s) that is a valid solution (as identified either by the moderator or the person seeking the solution).
