Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    A5 Platinum !!!

30 Days away!! I'm stoked. Need more info !!!

    Re: A5 Platinum !!!

hmm. I think they still need to get things right with V8 like the quirky browse behaviour many have reported in this version and previous ones. It seems like a desperate bid to bring more money in to release a new version so soon after V8 was released and without any information of its content/improvements.

So soon? Man I've been waiting on this forever. Wasn't 8.0 released over 18 months ago? This is (in theory) the much anticipated version fully capable of working on external data sources.

18 months? Maybe if you include that early bird beta testing period. It is probably about 12 months since they did there first proper release and then it still needed some major updates as the problems were coming thick and fast for several weeks. All credit it to them though because at the time they seemed to be working day and night to resolve the issues.

I want it (even though i have no idea what it is)

I hope that they include a simpler way to make charts and more variety, allthough a significative increasse in speed for the web Server would make it worth it (depending on its price of course).
          Cheers

Evidently, I did not get the memo. Is this what they are calling ver9?

Yeah, I know I'm late, but at least I finally got there:)

The notice came in the form of one of their regular promos. I'm sure they send out a lot of emails, so yours will get there soon enough.

This is a joke...right. ? Even after feb14 build/upgrade/bugfix I have a list of malfunctions (Vista) that really make V8 under Vista a not quite desirable development environment. (I mean the kind with a line number, and I can reproduce the unhandled exception - access violation - thread going to no access virtual addrress error on a regular basis.) Must be A5VVista to be released. Oh well.
P.S. does anyone have any comments about the xbasic for everyone ebook. ? (Is it worth the $. ?)

I have found the xbasic for everyone excellent, well worth the money.
As for new version I hope it cleans up some of the V8 issues, I'll definitely buy it because I have found nothing else like alpha. If your persistent you will grow to love it.

                      Re: A5 Platinum !!!

What will platinum offer? According to the email, they will continue to sell V8 alongside the new offering.

Since no mention of it prior to the email, I am going to assume it is the enterprise version with a broader feature set that will enhance V8.

I am hoping that Platinum will make it easier to make HYBRID apps. That is what I have been focusing on, and it could definitely use some help.

Right now I basically have to write two programs to access the same data. The backend stuff is done on the desktop with the runtime and web access for the end user. This combination has worked out well for me, BUT.

Maintaining both versions to access the same data is cumbersome. I am hoping Platinum allows you to write the application once, either for the desktop or the web and then you select a menu option to create the other, and voila, Web access to a Desktop app or Desktop access to a Web App.

At least could field rules in the database apply to both the desktop and web access?

Well it's after two o'clock in the morning, so I must be dreaming!

We usually get their emails straight away and haven't heard a peep about this - very curious although still amazed at all the things I've achieved in the current version so far...

                          Re: A5 Platinum !!!

I agree that all the issues of V8 are not completed, and believe Alpha should not release another version until it is, but they have done it in the past.

Richard, isn't the place for announcements in the announcements forum, then everyone would be able to see what is going on and not feel left out or a second class citizen if they dont get an e-mail? Mine went to an alternate e-mail address used when I first tested alpha, and is where I regularly get different offers to my registered e-mail address. Seems as though it maybe only aimed at potential new users that way.
