Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Detailed accounts receivable aging report

I need general advice and possibly specific guidance on the report listed below. I am an accountant that uses Quickbooks (QB) daily and need a detailed version of the QB A/R Aging Summary - as it is in QB, this report shows total due by customer for each 30 day aging increment but not the specific invoices behind that total. The invoice amount due for each invoice needs to appear in the column for the age of that invoice (0-30, 31-60, etc.) just like the total of all invoices of that age now appears. To the left of the amount columns would be the customer name, invoice number and invoice date.

I signed up for the 30 day trial of QRB on Friday, March 14th, and spent the weekend learning QRB and trying to produce this report; I understood the entire Quick Start guide but apparently it was not enough knowledge to create the report; then went to the forums for help.

From what I learned and what the forums indicated, it is looking like I'll need programming knowledge to do this. I don't have the time to acquire programming knowledge (unless the very basics will suffice). I have several reports that I need to create - so am willing to work at it and sincerely want to learn to do so - short of weeks of programming training.

What advice do you have for someone like me?

    Much thanks,

    Buddy Schaefer

    Buddy

I'm not in front of computer with QRB, but I'd run the AR summary report and the AR Detail report(or collections) and then link then together by test (as I remember).

Then you can have a report with the detail and the summary....

Thanks for the reply, Al - but not sure what you mean. Do you mean link these two reports together in QB via export to Excel or link them in QRB? If in QRB, will this take programming knowledge (which I don't have)?

FYI - The detail report in QB lists all customer's invoices for a date range (say 31-60 days old) in one group rather than grouping all of each customer's open invoices together.

      Thanks,

      Buddy

In QRB, create each of the reports. Then look at the columns and decide how to link them.

Create a new report based on the detail report and add the summary report to it. The screen will guide you through linking the reports together via the field(s) that logically connect the 2 reports.

This process doesn't take 'programming' knowledge.

If someon doesn't help you more in the meantime, I'll be back to my normal computer on Monday....

Look at the Samples and the Invoice with Statement. It's a similar concept...
