Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. A number of threads have referenced the v8 runtime license but I am not able to locate the v8 runtime (Enterprise Runtime Plus) on my system or online. I was, however able to locate the following.
http://support.alphasoftware.com/alp...me_License.htm
This site includes the following statements regarding the runtime and runtime licensing:
I do not take the reference to "application" in this to mean that the developer can only create and distribute a single application per runtime license. It seems the point instead is just that you will need the appropriate runtime for the number of concurrent users.
And it says very clearly that "In order to distribute an application to another user, you must distribute a copy of your own application files and a copy of the Alpha Five Runtime." This website also says you are "free to make copies of the Alpha Five Runtime Installation Program (setup.exe) to distribute to your users." It certainly does not seem that the intention was for the developer's customers to have to purchse additional runtime licenses.
I guess this comes down to two questions.
1. Can anyone point me to the actual runtime licensing agreement?
2. On a related note, does anyone have any thoughts about what this agreement really means.
There are a couple of reasons I believe this is important. First, if I am going to stay with v8 for now I would like to know what options are available to me within the terms of the licensing agreement. And second, if a revised version of the v9 runtime licensing agreement is proposed it seems it would be prudent to evaluate it relative to the existing licensing agreement for v8.

This site includes the following statements regarding the runtime and runtime licensing:
Distributing Runtime Applications - Licensing Issues
The number of users who can use your application concurrently on any network is based on the type of Runtime that you purchased. The people to whom you distribute the Alpha Five Runtime may not, in turn, distribute any copies of the Alpha Five Runtime. For example, if you purchased an "Unlimited 10-User Runtime", then a maximum of 10 users can use your application concurrently on any particular network. If you purchased an Unlimited User Runtime, then there are no limitations on the number of concurrent users of your application.
How to Distribute a Runtime Application
In order to distribute an application to another user, you must distribute a copy of your own application files, and a copy of the Alpha Five Runtime. You retain the copyright on your application files. Alpha Software retains the copyright on the Alpha Five Runtime files. You are free to make copies of the Alpha Five Runtime Installation Program (setup.exe) to distribute to your users. You can burn your own CDs with these files.
