Don't know if my problem is with my query or with the filtering I am doing (or not doing) in Alpha
My current query is at the end of the pdf, the pdf is 2 pages
The problem is in the first 4 lines of the result set. The data is
being duplicated in the result rows, causing a problem in a report I
am working on in Alpha5. It has some limitations with how it
works with SQL Server as regards reports and sub-reports...
Mainly the problem is that I can't filter a subreport based on a table, because the report is based on the results of a query, not a live connection to the database. The only option I get is scanning("SQLDATASOURCE"), no tables.. I am I missing something here?
Anyway, if there is a way to create the desired result set by
changing the query, I think the problem I'm having with the report
will go away. I've had some limited success using "union all" as the
2 child tables actually contain the same types of columns. Now,
however, I need to add another table that isn't compatible with using
union all, as far as I can tell.
Note also to Alpha employees.. The Query builder doesn't support the "union all". I can use that syntax from the "Edit ad hoc data Source" window, but if I click on the Query builder it removes the union all and everything after it..
I suspect there is something basic I am misunderstanding. Not
uncommon..
Any help will be gratefully received..!
TIA
Erik
