Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Security question

I have "required Login" on all pages except the index.

I logged in, navigated few screens down, copied the URL address and opened a new browser, pasted the address, I saw everyghing on that page without being logged in.

where do we set this up other than " require Login "

In the security settings you can choose whether you want security to expire after a certain amount of time or whether you want it to expire when the user closes the browser. Since the first browser window was not closed, the user is still logged in so if you open a second tab or another instance of the same browser (as opposed to opening Opera when the first browser is IE or Firefox) you are still recognised as the same person unless you have logged out.

I have that set as Expire when the user closes their Browser.
I enabled security on the WEB APP server.

I close the browser and open a new one, paste the URL and it's there.

And that particular page is set to "Login Required"? Strange... Is it possible your browser isn't clearing its cache when closing, e.g. if you refresh the page it would send you to login?

Which browser are you using, and have you re-published the security settings?

Sorry for cutting in, but you just need to check the box Enable Security Framework on the Application Server configure dialog General tab.

Yes Steve that has been done before I started. I stopped and restarted the server just in case.
I use Internet explorer , and I do publish the security everytime I make a change.

The funny thing I found if you recall the page from a history of the address bar it takes you to the login screen, but if you paste the address it doesn't.
                weired...

Does it still do it if you go to Tools > Delete Browsing History > Delete Temporary Internet Files?

                    Re: Security question

I noticed that if you paste within few minutes it still shows the page even after you close the browser, if you wait for about 10 or 15 minutes it takes you to the login screen.

The setup I have in my configuration is Expires when the user closes their browser. so something is not in sync. for some reason.

Does this still happen when you delete the temporary Internet Files?

Because I almost always need the current page, I have my browser set to never cache pages at all. For IE, this setting is under Options > Browsing History Settings.
