Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    No records in Query error

Have a form using a Set with an embedded browse(One to Many). Calling another form from this embedded browse to edit a record. The called form is based on a Set also with the same parent/child relationship that it has in the calling form embedded browse.
    Code:
    Main form:
       Parent
           Child
                Grandchild
    Called form:
Parent - the Child table above
           Child - the Grandchild above
Don't know if that is pertinent or not. I can add child records for as many parent records as I want. However, when I try to edit any child records, other than the first parents record that I added, I get the attached error. I can still edit the first parent record that was added to the embedded browse record, but none after that. The only way to edit any other embedded browse records is to use AS Open Companion Form/Browse. But I am passing in a couple of field values and for some reason, I can't get them to pass in using the Companion Form call. This has been an ongoing problem. So I've been using the Zoom to Record. But it gives the error on this particular setup. Also if I use AS Open form/browse it gives the error. When I open the default browse, I have to right click and select "Show All" to see all the records. I know a sample would help, but just thought I'd submit this to see if anyone might have an idea as to what would be causing this. I've used debug and it works thru my OnInit event on the called form, then gets the error in the window:

    ui_modeless_dlg_box:@_a5_window_bar_title
    on the first line:
    if a_dlg_button = tabInint then

Would really appreciate any help in this. Thanks.

    Wrong.

A sample is necessary when the problem occurs during a specific data entry sequence.

I am having this same prob in V11. I have a browse on a form using only zoom to record on the ondoubleclick event and I get the No Records in Query message, when clearly i doubleclicked on a record in a browse that exists. Anyone else seen this or have a fix?

You stated that the zoom to record form you are using is based upon the same set. But the function is looking for the child record in that table and not the composite record in a set. Have you tried a form that is based only on the child table?

Re: No records in Query error

            John,
Haven't been back into Alpha for quite some time now. However, if my memory serves me correctly, when you open a form from a browse, it actually creates a temporary filter for that form to show the record from the browse that was selected. When you close the form to return to the browse, the filter is "erased". HOWEVER, if while the form is open, you choose to put the form into "Design" mode, the filter that was created to capture that particular record will remain. Open the form in Design mode, select Form from the menu, then Form Properties, then the Filter/Order tab. On that tab will be a Filter Expression field. There will probably be some filter expressed in that field. You have to remember, if you wish to edit a form that is called from a browse, don't put it into Design mode after being opened from a browse, unless you remember to go into Form Properties and delete the filter expression that was created by the calling browse, before saving the form.
Hope I am correct in my remembering.

Wow, that was it, great memory. I must have opened the form to edit after I zoomed to it. Makes sense, thank you so much, I lost many hours on it and gave up.
