default printer not matching listed printers

I am trying to write a custom dialog for printing out a report. The first combo box on the dialog shows the possible list of printers on the system from

dim printernames as c
printernames=ui_printers_get()

I then get the default printer by

dim prname as c
prname=ui_printer_default_get()

The combo box is defined in the dialog with

[.50prname^=printernames]

I would expect the dialog to open with the default printer showing but it does not. In the interactive window I get

and guess the problem lies with the wording of the default printer not matching that of the ui_printers_get() list. Does anyone know of a way of getting them to match so that the default printer will be selected on opening the dialog?

This is not foolproof, but it should work in most printer configurations:

prname= ui_printer_default_get()
prname=word(prname,1,"on")
printers= ui_printers_get() 

ui_dlg_box("choose",<<%dlg%
[.50prname^printers];
<ok>;
%dlg%)

If you have two printers that are identical except for the "on" part, and one of them is the default, then it will fail. But naming your printers a little differently shouldn't be difficult.

Thanks Peter. All printers are named differently but can see where you are coming from on that and hopefully that will help others. It now works perfectly.
