Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    500 Internal Server Error???

    500 Internal Server Error
    "Script Error
    Error:Script: /DiabetesPg.a5w line:36
    x_DiabetesDg = a5w_run_Component(tmpl_DiabetesDg)
    Argument is incorrect data type"

I deleted the page and recreated it.
I deleted the sibling, on the Navigation component and recreated it.
It still gives me this error, when I publish to the local webroot.
the dialog works, in "Browser" preview.

What is going on? PLEASE HELP! I have to demo this to my client this afternoon.

I have the slightest feeling people are going to say they need more information.

    Just a hunch ;)

Probably post the dialog component and the .A5W page.

I presume you're using events in the dialog. That might be a good place to start looking for the error.

I have had the same problem. Your A5W page has something in it that is causing this. What I did was start with a fresh a5w page and then put my dialog back on it and it worked fine. Good Luck.

Now i think of it i used to get this aswell, i used to just publish the a5w pages as opposed to all components, after that it went away, so make sure you're publishing all the files from the a5w

OK I attached a .zip of the Web components and the Web page.

Maybe you'll see something I don't, that is causing the error navigating from one page to another. The Diabetes component works fine, by itself, in live Preview or Browser preview mode.

OK: I have attached the "Basic" page and component to this message.

Try setting it up, so that you open the Basic page, when you publish. Then go to the Diabetes page, after filling in the fields on Basic.

My other problem is that, fields from the Basic page don't carry over to other pages.

Thanks a lot, for your time and effort.

                    Re: 500 Internal Server Error???

I am experiencing the exact same error as shown below... let me explain below the error...

                    500 Internal Server Error
                    "Script Error
                    Error:Script: /quote.a5w line:33
                    x_Quote = a5w_run_Component(tmpl_Quote) 'SYSTEM GENERATED COMMENT - PLEASE DO
                    Argument is incorrect data type"

                    -----------------------------------
I had created this dialog/a5w yesterday and everything worked fine- i continued to add several other fields and then ran the component and the error kept appearing. I slowly deleted all of the additions that I had made hoping that I would eventually come across the item causing the error... this did not happen.

I decided to start from scratch and deleted the dialog, a5w page and navigation structure...

If I create an a5w page with nothing on it, set the page security, and publish to the web. The blank a5w page loads fine with no errors.

I then create a dialog component with only 1 text box on it - i change no parameters and save the component.

I insert the component onto the blank a5w page, save it, publish it and try to view the webpage - and the error appears???

                    -----------------------------------------

This is by far the most simple of dialogs possible, yet it is not loading? Any ideas?

I have tried different names when creating a new dialog/a5w page and navigation title within the navigation component - and I dont mean that I simply changed the name of each - I created entirely new files with different names with the same result.

I have even tried deleting all cookies, browser history etc hoping that would cure it - nothing has worked. Any ideas?!?

                    dumbfoundedly yours,
                    Eric

                      Re: 500 Internal Server Error???

I think i figured it out - I had changed the control name within the dialog of one textbox to a name which was the same as a session variable. I had a session variable named "session.agencyid" and I changed the first textbox name (not label) to "agencyid". This caused the error shown below. This was resolved by changing the textbox name to "agency_id".

Problem solved. Hope this helps others who may have run into the same problem.
