Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Layout design format

I want to design a form & report to include multiple test questions from one of my tables. The form is set up like a test. All test questions are aligned on the left corresponded by their answer fields on the right.
In order to accommodate all test questions, this would include approx. 20 print pages. How can I accomplish this task when the vertical layout on the form / reports extends to a maximum of 23 (2-3pages)?
Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a tabbed object on the form for the questions and answers. Not sure what your issue is with the report.
    There can be only one.

When I am in the report form in the design mode, I can only scroll down 23," I do not have enough space to put all of the drag-drop answer fields in the detail section.

Reports: How many questions do you have? It would not normally take 1" per question? how much space do you need per question. Do you intend to print a 23" long sheet of paper?

Alternately: Could you print on the reports following each other and make the reports shorter? In other words, if you have 90 questions, could you put 30 on each report?

You can set a report up to use a columns where there would be questions and answers on the left and also on the right.

Forms: Stan gave you the clue with tabs and alternately, you could use conditional objects.

Will await the questions of how many and how big???

You may have to rethink your table design. Instead of one record with hundreds of fields you might have to use multiple records with only a few fields.

          Id-Question-Answer

and link the id back to a parent table in a set.

The report on this set would allow each record to be a detail line in a report and the detail section would continue as long as you wish.

On a form the Id-Question-Answer table would display in a browse on a form based on the set.
          There can be only one.

            Re: Layout design format

I have about 200 questions in this report. I have a header & footer included to print with each page. I am new to Alpha Five and having trouble figuring out how to set this up to work. I thought it would be simple, simply type each question on the report/form and drag the appropriate fields on the detail section of the report until all of the questions were completed.
I must be looking at this setup the wrong way.

              Yup.

Stan gave you the answer. Make each question be a record. You're trying to do it the analog way - not really appropriate for a db.
