Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Atlanta Alpha Five Users Meeting - 09/16/2008

    Ladies & Gents --

Let's plan to meet on Tuesday, September 16 at 6:00pm at my office.

I suggest we consider the following topics:

    - Recap of Alpha 5 Users Conference

    - The roles of libraries and how they can affect performance and system stability

    - Active-Link Tables (Discussion & Demo maybe)

    - Other topics anyone wants to discuss.

Bring your own laptop or DB Backup & we can look at it. I'll provide the conference room with a projector, soft drinks and snacks.

My office is located on Peachtree Street at the north end of midtown, just before Peachtree enters the official perimeter of Buckhead. If you are coming from the perimeter, traffic will not be a problem because it is going the other way. The location is easy to find, and parking is free. The building has a red & white sign that says "John Hunsinger" real estate. The address is:

    R. James Properties, Inc.
    1627 Peachtree Road, Suite 342
    Atlanta, 30309

Office Phone is: 404-874-3495 ext. 104
    My cell phone: 404-275-2392

Bring your cell phone to call me because they sometimes lock the front door at about 6:00pm.
Please reply to this message to let me know whether you can attend.

    Thanks.

    Directions from the northeast:

Come south on I-85 to the Buford Highway/Peachtree Road exit (Exit #86).
Continue along the Buford Highway Connector to the Peachtree Road North exit.
At the traffic light on the Peachtree North exit, make a sharp right into the 1627 parking lot.

    Directions from the northwest:

Come south on I-75 to the Northside Drive exit and go south to Deering Road (2nd light).
Go left on Deering Road and continue to Peachtree Road.
Go right on Peachtree Road and move over into the left lane.
Turn left into the 1627 parking lot almost immediately after turning right on Peachtree.

    Directions from the south:

Come north on 75/85 to the 10th Street exit and turn right onto 10th Street.
Go about 4 blocks and then turn left on Peachtree Street.
Go about 1 mile and just past the entrance ramp for I-85 turn right into the 1627 building.

If you want me to remove your name from this list, please let me know.

    Thanks.
