Perform these steps on both machines, the laptop and the desktop, report back what the results.

Open the Auction database. Go to the interactive window. Run this function
    Code:
    ?a5.get_path()
Report back what this function returns on both machines when running the Auction database.

And have you changed the path/file names if there is anything with spaces or reserved words? See my post above.

    Guy,

Do what Andrew suggests......from inside the database on the desktop.

    Guy,

On your desktop, to prevent this in the future, you might want to do this.

If you want to save the old versions of the databases, go to each one of the folders and change the directory folder name. Like ver 6 make it "database", ver 7 "database2". Etc. to prevent you from opening up the wrong copy in the future. Or something to your liking.

You may want to keep the database in the root of the c:\ drive.

    Guy,

In my experience, if you're running your program on vista and it is located in Program Files either Vista (or alpha, I'm not sure which) moves all modified files to a different location, don't ask me why!

Vista creates a copy of any files that have been modified and moves them to another location. This location is a folder whose properties are set to HIDDEN!! In the future when you open the application it modifies these files in the hidden folder and not the ones in your application folder.

If this is the case for you, to locate these files, first show hidden files by going to Computer > Organise > Folder and Search Options > View Tab > select the option to show hidden files.

    Then navigate to....

    C:\Users\Michael\Appdata\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files

(obviously replace 'Michael' with your username)

you should see your more recently modified files in this folder. You should now copy them back to your application folder in Program Files. Then my advice would be to move everything out of Program Files and onto the root and then to turn off UAC.

    Hope this helps,

    Lee (Michael's son)

EDIT - Sorry Just realised there was a second page of posts and the issue had been resolved...this might still help some one though.
