Default Error 501 5.1.3 Invalid address?

Please can anyone explain this error message:

    Error sending message
    501 5.1.3 Invalid address

It’s generated when using the EMAIL_SEND() command. However, all e-mail addresses have been validated using A5_EMAIL_VALID().

    I’m stumped…

I understand from a Google search that this is an Exchange server error message - telling me that it doesn't like something in the recipient address.

However, recipient addresses in the database haven't changed since V8, and I am validating them all, pre-sending, with A5_EMAIL_VALID().

Does anyone please have any light to throw on this?

I believe A5_EMAIL_VALID() ONLY checks to see if the address is in the proper format, NOT that the email address is an actually valid email address.

I suspect that one or more of your email addresses are no longer valid

Thanks, Bill. It's throwing up the same error in Netmailer, too, which I would have hoped would handle errors better than that.

All the e-mail addresses look good to me - any idea how I might track down the bad ones?

There are software packages that verify whther email addresses are valid.

Here is on, but I am sure there are many more.

    Good luck.

    Thanks so much, Bill.

Shame this kind of functionality can’t be obtained inside Alpha Five, though.
