Default Difference between TextBox and TextArea

Hi. Could someone describe the difference between a TextBox and a TextArea?

I'm designing a grid, and specifying the Control Type for an HTML Memo field.

Strangely, I can't find a definition of these terms in the Help. Does anyone suspect, as I do, that A5's help is lagging way behind the code development?

A text box is limited to 255 characters. A textarea is somewhat akin to a memo (not rich text) field, and is essentially "unlimited"

Text box - an editable control suitable for character, numeric, and date/time data

Text area - similar to a text box, but with multiple lines

search for controltype gives attached. Ron

    Kurt,

Actually, textbox and textarea are not alpha terms. They are html. Google something like:

    html text box

    or

    html text area

and you will find all you would ever care to know ...

Perhaps the reason for this is because HTML elements were not invented by Alpha Software and a basic search on Google for these controls would have answered this question for you?
