Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

You can try to disable "split browse".

    1). properties
    2). browse
3). next to “browse appearance” you'll see “restrictions”.
    Mark “split browse”.

No, that did not change the situation, still displaying 4 views of the browse.
I have deleted all records and start new.
same results. I have installed the browse embeded, I have installed a saved browse. All the same results. could it be some indexes that I do not see?

Re: Multi view of a browse in a single window

I did check other browsers created and they all have the same situation, as amatter of fact I open Alphasport and you can see in any of their browsers, 4 layers under.
        Can any one confirm this?

using build 1888_3221 I don't see a problem with the browse on the AlphaSports Invoice form, either while viewing or in design mode. What else should I check?

I am still in 1847 -3216. as I read they are not recommended. Please check this out. open a browse, put the cursor over the line where the arrow for the record selection shows. The cursor will change to 2bars with 2 arrows. move this cursor to the right and you will see more than one layer of the browse.
Let me know if you can duplicate this.

Re: Multi view of a browse in a single window

Your example is not using a form with an embedded browse. I'm confused.

Your example is simply splitting a browse. To prevent this, set the restriction "split browse" in properties of the layout. Splitting a browse is a feature of the browse that lets you work with selected columns when the entire browse is too wide for the display.

The restriction against splitting the browse object in a form layout seems to be working just fine. Set it as Werder suggested at top of this thread.

I suppose this may be a build issue, cause I'm using a different build than you, but it seems more likely that you are misapprending a feature for a bug.

It does not matter any browse you can peel 3 layer. did you see the avi file I posted. It happens in Alpha sport and other apes, I have downloaded from the forum as well as mine.
The question is, can any one duplicate the same?

Can you tell us which build you are using and have you actually checked the check box in the browse properties to restrict the splitting of the browse.

As Tom said this is an actual feature of the browse not a bug.

Yes I did see the avi.

MIke, I thought I was clear. I did see / view your example. I can corroborate it. It's a feature that can be disabled, not a bug.

OK, as long some others can corroborate the issue, I feel better.
My concern was of a failure of my coding. You are mentioning, it is feature, then what is the purpose of having layers under the main view when they are the same?
PS I am using the latest Version. V9platinum 1888 - 3221 and I apologize for starting a new thread, over the same subject. I though that I was not expressing the right terms in my first post.

Mike, as I mentioned in the other thread...

The split browse feature lets you have different columns in view at once without having to scroll horizontally when they all won't fit on the screen at once.

Here is a full explanation of the so called bug by me, when in reality was a feature. Tom was right.

                              Thanks Tom.
