    Default windows 7

just to make you aware, trying to run v9 on win7 yields a "alpha 5 is not licensed for this operating system" message. running in vista compatibility mode works, though.

You should send an official BUG Report from within Alpha (on the help menu) as you are not guaranteed that someone from Alpha will read this thread.

So this is a beta of Windows 7?

Doesn't surprise me that there are issues with software.

Since it's a new OS why not wait for an Alpha release that claims that it is compatable with Windows 7?

Good to know that vista mode works......... Especially since Windows 7 is in rush mode to replace vista....

Cant wait for windows 7....so I can pay a monthly fee to keep it running and for great products like alpha to get thrown aside since they arent willing to pay bill gates millions to have windows "authorize" the program....Microsoft is evil and must be stopped!!!

Please excuse my ignorance, but how and where do I set the compatibility mode?

    Thanks

you would right click on the alpha entry in start menu, choose properties and then the compatibility tab. check the box to run in compatibility mode and choose vista sp2.

that's a different animal, for programs that refuse to run in win7. i use it for one old app, but i would not use it for alpha, unless you're back on alpha 2.
