    Default Sending Email in HTML Format

    I have created a button to send emails in the HTML format. However, the links to graphics does not work. Can anyone help me find out why this is happening?

    I have attached some jpgs to show that the code is there....

    JPG 1 shows the end result of the email being received
    JPG 2 shows the email in WYSIWYG from the Web Project where I created the code
    JPG 3 shows the actual code from the web project and I copied this code to the button and have the email defined as html.

    Thanks

    Phil,

    I am not a expert on this subject, but have you confirmed that the email client is reading as HTML and not just Text?

    Scott, thanks for responding....
    I send the email to myself as a test. I can take the same HTML code that I use for the button and put it in NetMailer under HTML and the email is properly sent. When I receive the email all I have to do is click on the bar in the email at the top of the body to show the graphics. So I know the code is correct....it appears as some of the code is stripped out when sending via the button...

    I have attached the HTML code that I have as part of my button that strips the graphic and the Dear ?????. Is there anyone that can create a button, include the code as HTML, and email to phil@ferrastone.com It would be interesting to see if this code works in V9...

    Any help would be deeply appreciated...

    Thanks
    Phil

    Phil,

    I just sent you the email, it worked when I sent it to you. Here is the code I used:

    Code:
    '

    DIM pm as P
    pm.from = "SENDERS EMAIL"
    pm.from_alias = "Email Test"
    pm.to = "phil@ferrastone.com"
    pm.subject = "This is a test"
    pm.message = ""
    pm.html_message = <<%str%

    Other than your email going to my quarantine box, I did get it with all the graphics. I have used your format many times in the past for sending a confirmation email after submission of the form.

    I thought that using the HTML option of sending an email via a button and the send email action script was that you only had to place the info you wanted, not setting up all the email parameters. Am I mistaken?

    Thanks Scott...

    Phil,

    I am not a user of action scripting, however, I did look at it and it does create the xbasic for you. You obviously need to use a variable in the "Send To" parameter to allow dynamic data.

    I hope this helps you.

    Hi Phil,
    I too was able to get your graphics but only just now was able to do anything with the Dear ....... part---it would not evaluate a field name or even a global variable the way you and Scott have it with the
    Dear <%a5 alltrim(Firstname)%><br> The documentation even states that a question mark be inserted for the code you used such as Dear <%a5 ? alltrim(Firstname)%><br> . Regardless, I could not get what you guys used to work, soooooo....

    For others who may be attempting this I ran into this small snag which the following gets around.
    I used the information from this thread to be able to use a global variable...a way to use a table field is also mentioned in the thread.
    http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...il+html+insert

    and ended up with this--which is simply the xbasic converted from Action Scripting with the parts in red added.

    Code:
    'Send an e- mail message using the Alpha Five e-mail clilent.
    dim global gvName as c
    gvName="Mike"

    if is_object(topparent.this) then
        form_name = topparent.name()+".this"
    else
        form_name = ""
    end if
    Dim message_type as c
    message_type = "HTML"
    to_var  = a5_eval_expression("=\"christense%%%sbcglobal.net\"",local_variables())
    param_to = to_var
    param_subject = "test AlphaMail HTML Image"
    param_cc = ""
    param_bcc = ""
