I've been trying to figure out a way to test this, but maybe someone knows off the top of their head....

MySQL has a feature called zerofill that pads a number with leading zero's for display. So, for example, if I set up a field as tinyint unsigned zerofill, then the value 1 will be displayed as 001.

My question is, what does Alpha see this as? Does Alpha see the number 1, or a character value of '001' ?
