Default Embed an HTML page in an A5W page?

I have some HTML code from Dreamweaver (e.g. an ajax menubar) that I'd like to use as the basis for a background template for all my pages.

The code displays properly in the browser when I save it as an a5w page.

However, when I use the a5w page in an a5w_include, the code breaks - the menu doesn't work and the elements are shifted all over the place.

I could just include the HTML code on every page, but then any changes won't update the existing pages.

Can anyone suggest a way to get around this?

Can I embed or include an HTML page in an a5w page?

    Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks much.

Just thinking off the top of my head, what if you put the code on a regular *.htm page and then use the a5w_include for the *.htm page.

I have no idea it it would work. Just a thought.

If you gave us the pages and the ajax menubar you may get a better answer.

    Alex,

Have you looked at the source code of the "broken" page in the browser?

The most likely problem is you have two sets of <head> and two sets of <body> tags in your combined page...one from the original a5w (htm) page and one from the page you are inserting it in.

The solution may be as simple as going in to the included page and stripping out the stuff that is already in the new a5w page. Then, when you include the page, it will not confuse the browser.

Do your editing in the "source" tab, and never look at it in the "wysiwyg" tab.

Thanks, Pat. I think you hit the nail on the head (tag, that is). I should be able to resolve things from here.

Thanks to Dan for the response, as well.
