    Default css editor gone mad

    Has anyone had issues with the css editor lately? If I put in a few lines, the editor creates a row for each damn Property. Try it - create a new css file, add one Class for example, give it a Color property. Now look at the Code View - mine has created a row for 81 different properties, all null except for the color selection.

    Hmm I'm running v9 build 2095, and the CSS editor is runing as per normal.

    Steve,

    Yes, this happens if you use the property sheet type editor...really screws up a design!

    I reported it some time ago, and the cure will be in "the next fix".

    For now, take them all out (by hand!) and use the code view only.

    It's getting worse, or I am just noticing.

    If you add a comment, or comment out some text in the CSS Editor, it gets deleted when you next open the editor.

    So if I comment out some text, like below, that whole section will be GONE when I return to the stylesheet.

    /*
    #styletocommentout{
    width:100px;
    }
    */

    It will also auto-expand shorthand notation, turning:

    #myelement{
    border: 1px solid navy
    }

    in to:

    #myelement{
    border-width: 1px;
    border-style: solid;
    border-color: navy;
    }

    And then without warning, expand this same section to show all 100 or so properties, even though the values are blank.

    I've turned it in as a bug, even asked Richard to prompt action, no response.

    Steve,

    I reported the deleting comments bug months ago along with the bug that the values were marching across the page with inserted spaces. At the time they fixed the spaces problem, I was told that the comments bug would not be fixed because it would be "really difficult". So,don't expect a fix in V9.

    However, I've heard that the CSS is a lot different in V10, so let's hope they figured out a way to save comments in V10!

    Again, NEVER use the property sheet editor. I've just installed Adobe CS3, and I'll probably use that from now on. I've been using the Code tab, but even that is dicey.

    I guess the good news is I now know my way around a CSS file in code view. Honestly, I would suggest this to everyone - learn CSS syntax. I'm glad V10 has a new CSS model. I've written extensively to them about their current one. Not just the editor, but how the CSS is applied within documents.

    By the way, you can file this under "let no well intentioned change go unpunished."

    I've also heard that Alpha is putting a lot more CSS type features in V10 that let you make CSS settings in the component and not have to work in the page to get the effects. This will be a boon to newbees, but I wonder how this will affect those of us who have developed external CSS style sheets and want to work with graphic designers who know nothing of components.

    I'm hoping the work to help the unsophisticated user doesn't hurt the sophisticated one. (I'm talking about Steve, of course)
