Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Nicholas,
Try publishing with All files, clear publish history and include security files.
I often see these errors only to find they disappear with a full publish.
Also, when did it start happening and what changes did you make since last successful publish?

        Re: Publishing Error

Site works fine in A5 development.

The pages on server do not work

        getting

error 3- Error loading [PathAlias ADB_Path]\oeordlin_sql.dbf The System cannot find path specified \[PathAlias ADB_Path]\oeordlin_sql.dbf

1-I can not find in help the error codes
2-The server lost its license so I had to add back in and thought it would solve.

        Thanks in advance.

If you are having path alias issues, try changing the publish setup to resolve the path alias at publish instead of run time. From the control panel menu, select View ->Settings -> System -> Preferences. From the Preferences, select Web Publishing->Alias Resolution, and select "Publish time" and then re-publish everything.

The error indicates there is some problem with the a5_application.a5i file and the path alias can't be resolved at run time.

Jerry Thanks I did what you have requested. But I am back to the original problem.

                Gary,

I finally fixed this by wiping out what was therre and republished from a fresh copy.

Wiping out the files published to the server? I've done that and republished and still get this error.

It always happens at the same file. Always with the a5wcmp file that relates to the table I'm trying to use. So I'm looking at that right now...

                    Re: Publishing Error

GAry unfortunately one of those files has become unstable/corrupt etc..... so I started with an backup copy and added a few things, published, etc. and then found the problem.

It is some code in a component or aw5 page that is causing it.

                    Good Luck

                      Re: Publishing Error

Sounds like bad news. It's sounding like it could be directly a result of where my tables originated. Old old old database files that went from A4 to a really old version of A5...when I got A5V9 I could view the table but couldn't mess with anything (compound index errors) so I exported them and imported them, made a new database and went from there. Could this be the case? Or could the file itself still be solid?

It's a web component the error hits on but previewing the page the component is on was always sketchy. If I've made changes to the component, do I have to re-make the page?

Thats what I said it is a "web component".
If it is not a problem you can see were it bombs in the publishing and fix that component. IF not a lot of work I would redo the page and componenet.
