Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Thanks Eric

      Re: Aware IM and WebFuser

Yea, the price is a little out there. But, development costs are way more over time. For me, speed=money. The most fun pricing is Servoy. Try to figure that out?

I was all ready to buy, but the sales person at Servoy could NOT figure out which price I should pay!

Is seems that every software tool company thinks that they will sell MORE if the have lots of pricing tiers. As a tool buyer, for over 20 years, I buy faster if the pricing is simpler.

Anywho, any have a experience with AwareIM or WebFusion?

        Re: Aware IM and WebFuser

        Hi Software Engineer,
Although I do not have any experience with AWARE I Am, i just got an offer from Alpha, for first time users:
        "
        Web App
        Developer's Bundle
        Alpha Five v9 Platinum edition
Alpha Five v9 (web) Application Server
Alpha Five v9 Total Web Apps DVD Course
        AlphaSports Ecom Application
EVERYTHING you need to build and deploy web applications and interactive websites to an unlimited number of users per server!
        $199,00
        "
It seems you just have to download the awareim stuff and do the same with ALPHA...I believe it's 1 month free for both.
Then play around with both seriously and if you still want to pay (usd 9999- minus 199-) more, you should maybe first wait on Alpha 10 which I'm sure will be released within a couple of months.
The promise of Codeless AJAX in there is not just marketing.., And I know a little bit, because I've seen beta versions actually working against my own applications developed in earlier versions of Alpha).
        Actually they should call it:
Codeless Fulfillment/Satisfaction instead of Codeless AJAX.
It will be nothing compared to what you are Aware off now or will be with AwareIM in future...

        regards, Ron

              Re: Aware IM and WebFuser

I did some basic toying around with AwareIM before starting with Alpha, and though some of the basic stuff seemed easier, Alpha Five impressed me that it was also easy and, based on the developers writing on the forum, quite flexible and adaptable. Pay attention to the user forums too--I had no experience with computer application development pre-Alpha and while the Alpha Five documentation leaves room for improvement (but is improving?), the forum is amazing with what's already here and how quickly experienced developers often anser your questions, if not Alpha employees themselves.

                  Re: Aware IM and WebFuser

Ron, not sure whay you got a V9 offer when the current version is 10.5, the new V11 is close to shipping I suspect.
Was the offer made on the basis that a V11 would be an upgrade at no charge?

                  Others.
I'm not conversant with WebFuser, but at that price it would have to do the job for me.
Sorry bur SaaS is not something which appeals. Too many unknowns and Cloud issues still around my my taste.
There are a number of other ststems coming onto the market, but Alpha has the best/worse of both worlds offering Desktop AND Web in one package.
But then I've been using it for long, long time.
