Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Does anyone know if it is "easy" to modify the e-commerce app to take advantage V10's codeless AJAX benefits? Eliminating the full screen refresh would be great.

      Ron, I call'em like I see'em.

Are you getting a percentage of related sales over it?
      You're a quick study!

      Isn't it amazing?
      (so that's 1.5 % for me...)
      Yes, it really is amazing.

But, you only get your 1.5% cut if you earn it. ;)

The older lookup was replaced with a modal window which is much faster. However, the grid opened in the window must be an Ajax enabled grid.

I'm not familiar w. the e-commerce app, but basically to enable AJAX all you do is check off a box in the grid. It doesn't get any easier. ;)

            Nice...
What do you have to do to get a copy now? It would make the app I am working on much nicer!!

              Lenny

both grids are ajax enabled, the main one and the lookup one , although the lookup one was made in v9. I keep getting this message

Error running Lookup grid: Script:TEMPLATE line:6 fnwcmp = a5_removetrailingbackslash(a5_default_path) + chr(92)+ + "Departamento Argument is incorrect data type

I haven't defined any arguments on any of the grids so I dont know whats happening. Am I doing something wrong?
              Cheers

There is something missing between those two + signs

well yes that seems reasonable, but that code was created automatically by alpha I just sat up the look up field like I normally would do,
I can also notice that there isn't a closing " on Departamento
I am supposing this is a bug.

Doing more tests i notice that everything (lookups expandable grids etc.) works fine if all the grids are made from scratch in v10 but the problem show up when the grids were made originally in v9 (yes ajax is turned on).

Hope this gets fixed for the release
                      Cheers

The last video from Alpha was very impressive
Will it be a new alpha sport and e-commerce sample using those amazing features?

PS: Please provide enough caribbean strong coffee to the developers so they will work at drum speed.

Lookups: It helped with most of my grids with lookups to open up the lookup definition, change something to make it "dirty" and resafe.

Expandable grids: I was not aware something like that existed previous to V10...Please explain.

What worked with most grids created in earlier versions, was to change something like a header and resave it in V10beta.

                          regards, Ron
