Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    v10 Beta completely stopped working?

    Hi,

Over night all v10 functionality stopped working for me, I have a VERY important demo today and this has screwed it up for me completely. This is on all PCs I have available here...

Anyone else have the same problem or has our license just got screwed up?

Same here. I guess the beta trial is over per yesterday..

But I am still able to run most V10 Beta grids with AJAX in the browser. Only the V10 features except ajax do not work anymore...

I don't think this was intentional, I only got a message from Selwyn yesterday about some new image options in the next build... This has really screwed things up for me job-wise now though... today of all days!

PS: I can run the grids but I can't edit them at all if they are existing AJAX ones.

Thank you, I should have thought of this sooner!!!!

It does work however the session handling on the server gets messed up as a result so I hope there will be a fix before this afternoon...

I just heard back from Selwyn, an update to extend the Beta will be available later this morning (US time).

I satarted working on some grids in v10 (not just testing), a bad desicion,But I learned my lesson "never start developing on a beta".

Wiil they send the extension to all current beta testers or we have to make a request again?

There really needed to be more of a process for this beta - and all future betas - with a separate forum section, and regular mailings on what's going.

Guys I asked Richard just before:

However it would be a good idea that with the downloads we can get a document that tells us what is new in the download
this way we can play and test it, otherwise we may not know.

Re: v10 Beta completely stopped working?

since a couple of days there is a link on the web control panel with the latest release notes and pics of the latest functionality added. You will have to download the latest zip files and apply them first, then start Alpha V10.

But I agree on a forum entry (could be restricted to the beta users by login if Alpha wants to keep things private for those only) and also an issue track system where you can look for already posted issues by others, and the current state of things being picked up or planned for...

Would save Selwyn a lot of time going through personal emails every day, I guess.

I also suggested same some time ago.
But it's up to Alpha of course.

But isn't it great to have the privilege to be be part of this already?
I have never been so excited about a piece of software before.
