Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

A5 Printer fail after update to V10 patch

I updated my server to the latest V10 patch and get the below error message on printing. I have tried all of the listed solutions: NUL on the printer port, reinstalled server, installed the A5V9 trial, firewall, AlwaysUp set to Admin login.

    500 Internal Server Error
    "Script Error
Error:'Alpha Five Printer' (for creating PDF, RTF and HTML output) is not installed. Re-install Alpha Five Application Server"

    Steve,

Have you tried InstallAmyuniPrinters.exe (located in the appserver directory) Try right clicking and run as adminstrator. (if that is a choice, not sure what OS you are running)

Applying todays 11:30 patch did not fix the printing problem.

Steve I just applied the latest patch (09-15-09) and I'm still printing.

Just wondering if it is something else not related to the update?

Was printing for two years straight before the update, isn't now. The printer driver (Amyuni Document Converter 2.51) looks properly installed. I even reinstalled V9AppServer, and then applied the patch.

I have found the only to fix this is by stopping the app server, running the "installAmyuniprinters.exe" in the Program files then restarting the app server.
I too have had trouble with this, but I can't duplicate it enough to submit a bug.

That didn't work this time, nothing did. I patched back to the last V9 official patch. That means a few of my web apps on that server do not work and are closed for business for now. But the older ones, the ones being used by customers, are running fine.

Re: A5 Printer fail after update to V10 patch

                      Steve,

I'm sure you know that V10 uses V4 of the Amyumi converter, not version 2.51 like V9.

When I installed, I found that I had two AlphaFivePrinters installed, and the old V9 one was still the default. The new one was named AlphafivePrinterV4.

I made the AlphaFivePrinterV4 the default and removed the AlphaFivePrinter, and I haven't had any problems since.

Followed previous posts #8 and #11.
                        AmyV4 reinstalled with AppServer stopped.
                        AmyDocConverter is V4

Prints to browser on the dev machine (XPPro)

Te app server will bring up a dialog that asks for "print to file". If I name "test" -the a file named "test" will save to the app server.

The app server print property defaults to file. It does send the doc to the drive on the app server. It does not get returned to the browser. I attached the dlg code - built with genie and some variables. Is there a config setting I need to address?

I too had no problem with V9. Will keep searching.

                          I resolved my issue:

On VPS App Server > AlphaFivePrinterV4 properties >Ports Tab
Set for Amyuni Document Converter,... (off page)
On my server it is listed as a TS004 Inactive TS Port.

It popped back to the browser as soon as I applied that setting.

Just a note that after the last V10 patch, same problem. The printer fails for V9 applications. I have (had) V9 and V10 WAS running on the same server. All was fine until the patch, then the Amyuni printer threw an error on any V9 print job. I know they use different print drivers, but I thought they would remain isloated under the proper Alpha version. So I remmoved V10 and will have a "V9" and a separate "V10" server going forward.

To fix the printer problem I reinstalled the V9 WAS and the latest patch.
