Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Its pure math. First of all it would require having a Great amount of programming skill to develop your own calendar application or a similar interface to flash calendar pro, but let’s suppose you have that skill. Re: Alpha Calendar Pro

here is how to setup a link to an edit grid in advance to the video
        Supose this:

URL to your web project: http://MyServer/MyWebProject
Event Id field name on your table: Event_id
Edit Event Grid a5w page Name: Edit_event.a5w
        1. Go to your "Main Database" and open your events table in edit mode.
        2. Add a a new field called "LinK" (or whatever)
        3. Open the field rules and go to the "link" field
        4. Set the field as a calculated field
        5. write the next expression (remember our initial suppositions) "http://MyServer/MyWebProject/Edit_event.a5w?Event_id="+Event_id
        6. go to your event edit grid
        7. In the Query(DBF) option go to "define arguments"
        8. Insert a new argument called event_id and set it to "get value from variable"
        9. set the variable field to Event_id
        10. Filter your grid by this expression Event_id=:Event_Id
        11. Open alpha Calendar Pro
        12. Go to setup
        13. In the event connection page (2nd page) select "Link" on the link field, save and continue
        14. Publish the changes(last page of the setup)
        15. test it
        16. And there you have it

Additionally you can change the label of the Link field on the calendar to "edit event" (or whatever) in the "Customize your calendar" section on Alpha Calendar Pro

          CORRECTION
          13. In the event connection page (2nd page) select "Link" on the link field, save and continue
          its actually:
          13. In the event connection page (2nd page) select "Link" on the "URL" field, save and continue

Thanks to Charlie Crimmel for pointing that out

          Sorry for the inconvinience

Hallo, just like to know if this calendar can be used in desktop applications.
Must one buy the Alpha Calender Pro and the Flash Calendar or is it one product?

                Thanks

                  Hi Mauricio,
Whilst i can get the calendar to work with dbf files, if i try using a connection string to mysql i get this, any ideas?

                  500 Internal Server Error
                  "Script Error

                    Re: Alpha Calendar Pro

Keith: watch the video on creating an edit events grid, changing and submitting the grid that is shown on that video will change events on the calendar

David: In the current version of alpha Calendar the only way of using the calendar on the desktop is by using Alphas Web Application Server and embedding the web page into a form, Im going to see the possibility of skipping the WAS on further versions, but thats one way for now.
Alpha Calendar and Flash calendar are separate Products, you need both of them, One for the connection to your DB and the other to display the calendar

Dale: Its working fine on the 2 computers im testing this.
when you create the active link table what happens if you pres "view resulting table" at the end of the genie?
Or can you give me some light on how to replicate the error
                    Cheers

                      Re: Alpha Calendar Pro

Mauricio this really looks good, and I am interested, but I have a couple of questions:

                      1. Is there any provision for "recurring" events? In other words, suppose I wanted to enter in an event that occurs EVERY week, or month or on a certain date of the year. Is that possible?

                      2. Once purchased, how many calendars can I set up on my A5W server? Suppose I wanted to create a "work calendar" and a "personal calendar." Would I have to buy additional licenses?

                      3. Is there any way to create a link to further details? In other words, is it possible to have a memo box with additional information about the event, and place a link to it on the calendar day box so that if the user clicks on it, the memo field pops up?

                      Thanks,

                        Rich

                        1. Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly recurrent events are supported

                        2. Yes you can set unlimited number of calendars on 1 server with 1 license, the only condition is that they have to be on different folders under your webroot, or you can set two different categories (work and business) and just filter the calendar by selecting one of them (or both) in the calendar UI

                        3. Yes watch this video

                            Mauricio,
I can view the table data when setting up the calendar, the resulting dbf is in Alpha_calendar folder not the calendar_tables folder if that makes a difference.

As i dont really need locations and catergories i am using the in built dbf for test purposes as i actually only need the mysql connection to work on a single appointment table, but in saying that i have tried using the connection string for all of them and still get the same error.
I have attached the setup view if that helps.

Dale your setup appears to be correct (assuming that your resulting active link table name is "cal_leads.dbf")

                              Can you try this:

Ad an new a5w page in one of your normal databases, put this xbasic code and preview it
                              ?lookup("C:\QLV2\Alpha_Calendar\cal_leads.dbf",".T." ,{put a field name here})

(Don't forget the the "?" at the beginning of the code)

See if you get any results
                              If not

Try doing that same active link but in your own "normal" database and try this code in a another a5w page
                              ?lookup("cal_leads.dbf",".T." ,{put a field name here})

                              see what happens
                              Cheers
