Default {Backspace} On a Form Button

I have a touchscreen with alpha/numeric buttons that when they are pressed are entered into a variable, displayed on screen, to form a word. I have been trying to incorporate the sys_send_keys({"{backspace}") on a button so that the user can back space in the variable field just like the <-- button on a keyboard when you type in a field.

When using the {backspace} on a button it deletes the whole text in the variable field.

Searched the forum with no luck.

    Appreciate help with this one.

Instead of using the back space command have your button code remove the last character of the variables' content.
Assuming the control on the form that holds the variables' value is 'var'
    Something like
    Code:
    topparent:var.text = left(topparent:var.text,-1)

    Tom,

Thanks for the quick reply. I am travelling at the moment but will test on my return to the office.
