    Default a5_layout_fax question

In the control pabel, right clicking on a report and choosing fax and showing the xbasic results: a5_layout_fax("customer list", filter, order )

I understand one must have the windows faxing service setup.

My question is how do you feed a fax number to this function. It seems like a useless xbasic function without that ability.

I could not find help on the function you list but reading the help on fax I think it works on the premise that name and number is stored as a contact or you need to manually enter it

The PRINT_TO_FAX() function allows you to fax a report based on a filtered expression and it then bring up the printer dialog. Either way you still need to enter the recipient data from what I can see.

This sort of thing needs to be handled similar to the built in email client, but I can't see it

Try Report.fax() You can set all the parameters necessary. The internal function you found looks like it just opens up the dialog for the fax settings to do this manually, nothing more.

I have good success using Snappy Fax.

Just save your report to a pdf file, SnappyFax will do the rest. Your fax name and number will be automatically inserted.
