Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Strange behavior of Quick Filter after Mark Op

Sorry guys, it's me again. Don't know why the Alpha Gods are torturing me these days???
When I run a quick filter on a value in an emb browse after a mark operation and after clicking on Show All, records in emb browse disappear from view instead of showing filtered records. The only to return to normal is to close the form and reopen it.
    See sample db with notes.

Note: I have the exact same issue in a different DB that uses an Update op instead of Mark Op.

Additional info: If after the mark operation I try to sort by one the emb browse fields, records disappear. To bring the form to its normal behavior I have to close and reopen it

Re: Strange behavior of Quick Filter after Mark Op

Gaby, I think what's happening is that your script is running a query against the child table and your saved mark operation contains a separate query (filter) that must run. It's not necessary to run the query before running the saved mark records operation. The query specification and the filter expression in the saved mark operation are identical. I wonder if you see the same issue if you "comment out" the query action in your Mark button script?

The quick filter runs against all records in the child table when you use it the way you describe. If a different parent table record has no linked child table records that meet the quick filter specifications you'll see no linked child table records. they will "seem" to disappear, but in reality, the form is simply suppressing the display because they don't meet the quick filter criteria.

I don't see a problem here, using the new browse object.

Thanks for your help Tom. That's true, when I comment out the Run Custom Query, things are fine. What threw me off is that the Show All had no effect on the situation. I thought that a Show All would clear all filtering and sorting for parent and for child. Apparently it's not the case.

          Gaby,
Maybe you are using a basequery?
Whether a "show all" clears a query depends upon whether the query in question is a basequery or not--show all has no affect on a basequery. Offhand I cannot remember which of the query methods result in a basequery but know at least one does. If this is the case and a query is needed for your scenario, choose a query method that does not use the basequery (there is a way to change the basequery as well but no need to go there!).

            Hi Mike:
It's not a base query, it's a simple query (Run Custom Query from AS). I tried <table>.query_detach_all(), <query>.drop(), no effect. I wonder what method would have the same effect as closing and reopening a form, Just puzzling.
