Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Can someone verify if this is a bug?

    Put script #1 in an OnKey event in a form and press Shift-Ctrl-F12 and a msg box will pop up. Note the ^ must precede the + or it won't work, i.e., +^F12.

    Script #1
    IF a_user.key.value = "{^+F12}" THEN
    a_user.key.handled = .T.
    IF a_user.key.event = "down" THEN
    ui_msg_box("Shift-Ctrl-F12 Pressed","Shift-Ctrl-F12 Pressed")
    END IF
    END IF

    Put either script #2, or #3 in place of it and neither works. This keycode combo is directly out of the help file. It also soesnt work for Ctrl-F12, Shift-F12 or any other 3 key combo where it is spelled out.

    Script #2 DOESN'T WORK
    IF a_user.key.value = "{Ctrl-Shift-F12}" THEN
    a_user.key.handled = .T.
    IF a_user.key.event = "down" THEN
    ui_msg_box("Shift-Ctrl-F12 Pressed","Shift-Ctrl-F12 Pressed")
    END IF
    END IF

    Script #3 DOESN'T WORK
    IF a_user.key.value = "{Shift-Ctrl-F12}" THEN
    a_user.key.handled = .T.
    IF a_user.key.event = "down" THEN
    ui_msg_box("Shift-Ctrl-F12 Pressed","Shift-Ctrl-F12 Pressed")
    END IF
    END IF

    Yes, I can confirm what you see.

    This seems to have been broken a long time because it doesn't work in vers 8 or 9 either. I suppose very few of us are using 3 key combinations like this.

      Thanks for confirming it. I reported it as a bug.

      I use these types of key combos for a backdoor into my software. It pops up a form with a password entry. After I enter the pw, it shuts the app down and unhides the Control Panel.

        Interesting. I've gotten used to using a hidden hotspot control to do the same thing.

          That's also an interesting way in.

            And to make it even harder make a button basically ONE pixel square with the same color as the background! No hotspot that shows a hand to give it away. So unless you know Exactly where it is, it would be rather difficult to find (so best to document this somewhere also so that you will know where !!) ....could even have the button password protected to make it even harder!

            :)

              Hi Chet,

              While you may have found a bug, I'm reminded of the story about the man that goes to the doctor and says it hurts when he raises his hand, and the doctor says, "Don't raise your hand!".

              So if it doesn't work, it is better to use the working solution, as it works across all versions (and should continue to).

                Re: Can someone verify if this is a bug?

                I reported it and it has been fixed for the next update patch.

                So far, I've reported three bugs for V10 in the last three days and they have all been addressed immediately. I thought they were very serious bugs. I received a private download link to get the fixes. You can't ask for better service than this.
