Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    500 Internal Server Error

For some reason can no longer login to my application. Getting

    500 Internal Server Error

    "Script Error
    Error:Invalid component format: Login"

any clues? I had not touched my login component, nor the launch page. I had just updated to latest build.

I recently got the same error. I was running the V10 App server
at the time. I Checked the box to run in V9 compatibility mode on 1st tab of the server, restarted the server and all is fine now.

                  Re: 500 Internal Server Error

Well, I'm the culprit... in my ignorance I downloaded some files off the server and put them into my local directory. THIS IS A "NO NO".... What I didn't realize is that when you hit that publish button there is some processing that takes place for the files to run on the server, altering all those pages and components in such a way that they will not work locally. In essence I trashed my application. Par for the course, this is how I learn everything, I have to blow things up a few times til I get it right. So no bugs here, just a screwball at this end.

                    Re: 500 Internal Server Error

Turns out the problem was upgrading my client to the latest build, but not upgrading the server. When i installed the latest point release on the server, the problem went away.

                      Re: 500 Internal Server Error

Turns out all I had to do was to have made sure my Host Server account had the latest patch up-dates, once those were installed my app was back up and running. That is.. after I remembered that I had a week old backup of the working directory on my laptop. Yes, I did indeed "toast" all the files when I downloaded them from the server, but once I published all the backups and Server was updated to the latest greatest I'm back in biz... what a comedy of errors....(hope someone as new as me is spared the pain of having to learn all this the hard way)

I had the same issue with the latest patch and could not login to my website, even though I did not re-publish any login related files. I reverted back to a previous October upgrade and re-published some files and was able to log in.

Anyone run into this problem recently and solve it?

                          I'm getting:

                          500 Internal Server Error
                          "Script Error
                          Error:Invalid component format: Dlg_Signin_Random"

                          This is a dialog component.

Updated desktop and web server to the current/latest version 2659-3515.

                          Works fine on localhost.
