Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

I received this from PeterConway and I wanted to share this with you.

"I received a request for an application that a potential client wanted, they were based in Singapore, when I mentioned it would be developed off-shore, they replied sorry, dont bother - that will won't work for us.. We want to do a top-down app. And will need someone on the ground here in Singapore! well ten hours later they could not believe their eyes, the proof of concept sent to them was 70% the complete application.

Below is a modified version of what was sent.

    Video.

    Best regards,
    Peter Conway

It was just over a year ago I began to think, you know, the guys at Alpha have given it a good shot, they had developed a product Alpha Five Version 9, a glimmer of hope was that maybe, just maybe with a some luck, I will be able to develop fully interactive database applications over the web that are professional and commercial enough to cut it even with the corporate guys.

No doubt they gave it a good go. What version 9 delivered was a break from not being able to do anything with data live databases online, to being able to publish something with interactive data that was acceptable enough to use commercially, and it did work, and clients did accept it. But it was not a game changer.
Everyone in the Alpha Five development community were banging away at developing Web applications in the traditional manner progress was good, things were working better and speeds were increasing, it was all looking promising.

Then something happened, it was revealed to a few developers (I was one) that a beta version of a new Alpha Five the key word being NEW would be distributed for testing and suggestions.
Within one hour I knew what I had on the screen in front of me was truly revolutionary, I was getting close to desktop performance with large databases on line. I was speechless at what have been developed; the name they gave it was Codeless Ajax and WOW, welcome to a new world.
Ive seen a lot on the web in my day, I purchased hope plenty of times year after year looking for that one product that app-killer that absolutely knocked the others for a six (a cricket term for hitting the ball over the fence) and that I wouldnt need a degree or know how to fly the Space Shuttle to get it going.

It was here Alpha Five V10, - born in the Boston MA, by a team of very talented and skilled professionals that finally broke with convention, they thought out of the square followed the impossible until they beat it.

The biggest problem I faced that day was trying to cope with the fact what I was working on just the day before was now a product that seemed ten years in the past, as were the trials of Dataflex, File Maker and MS Access and the rest I worked on the week before, all history in one click.

You know its difficult to describe the difference, the ability to do what I can now and had no idea just a year ago of the power, the professional and commercial excellence I could deliver in this short time its stunning.

You know something I just read an article where the boss as Walmart said you know there was a time when we viewed the online and off-line businesses as being different we now know online business builds our off-line store business its all the same business.
The game has now changed the GFC has rocked industries all over the world, the iPhone is changing the way people do most things and companies are now looking for viable robust commercial internet solutions to complete their business in recovery and benefit just like Walmart well its here, its called Alpha Five Codeless AjaxV10 seeing is believing, take a look as soon as you can.
