First of all let me say this is not directly an Alpha issue and I did post a question in the V9 forum yesterday. However it is a huge issue that will presumably affect more Alpha users as more people use remote connections to work on Alpha applications.
Our scenario is that we have a client who has branch offices and they use a web access session on their Windows 2008 server to run the Alpha application.
If they try and send emails from within that web access session they get an OPERATION FAILED message followed by a MAPI error message.
Digging around various forums on the net it transpires that their is a known issue with applications that use MAPI commands to send email via Outlook when Outlook is not already running. This includes trying to send email from within WORD (nice one Microsoft).
When working the application via a web access session rather than via remote desktop the option to start Outlook first does not seem to be present and therefore sending emails fails.
Understandably they would rather use this approach is it simply appears that the Alpha application is another option on their desktop rather than having a whole new remote desktop that they have to keep switching between.
Has anybody else encountered this problem and how have you resolved it ?
Are there other email clients that will work with MAPI commands - would the Alpha email client work in this situation.
