Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Design Mode tables don't match set tables

When I am using my application I open a form, then goto design mode to edit the form, I look that the tables in dragdrop list and I see additional tables and fields that are not associated with the set the form is based on.

However, if I goto design mode from the control panel for the same form the dragdrop list shows the correct tables and fields.

Also, when I add a new record to the set that is acting strange the action scripting commands can no longer find that record, but works fine for the records previously entered in the database, I updated the index, rebuilt the indexes, but still can not open the form and goto any new records I created. Can I erase the .SEX from the database folder and rebuild it?

I did a complete erase of the shadow database and recreated it, but it does not seem to make a difference.

The program was recently updated to version 10 and has been acting strangely ever since. Could this be related to the way v10 does form/set backups? i am completely lost, and something is causing a major issue with the application.

also, i am getting a lot of errors related to "posting". "Can not open table to post" etc...

i will try to compact the database, and I will try to post it on here. it is very large though so I might have to put it online and have people download... i will post a link in a minute

        http://www.shorecon.com/rhinodb.zip

Here is the application to download and look at. If you click "jobs" on the main menu, then goto "Goto WO", type in "Node548" then in the browse on the window that appears there is a button that says "goto worksheet" i get an "error" from that I didnt get in version9. Also, on the same form if you click 'create new worksheet" start entering information on the worksheet, when you change the bill/pay type, bill rate , or pay rate, you will also recieve error messages related to posting field rules.

The script that calculates the totals on the worksheet is called "set_totals" and it is run every time there is a OnChange in the fields mentioned above,

thank you all in advance for you help with this, it has been driving me crazy lately!!!

        Thanks,
