    Default Rotating banner on home page

    I have a slew of positive comments that I'd like to show on a rotating basis on my home page. I'm thinking that this is some soft of "Fetch" operation, based on a timed event. Does this seem like a reasonable approach? I guess I'd put all the comments into one field in a grid, and write some xbasic to rotate to the next. I'd appreciate any thoughts. I am using V 10 with a tabbed ui for my home page. It's www.SwimAmerica.info As you can see, what I have now is not polished nor professional.

    Thank you.

    Default Re: Rotating banner on home page

    Way way late, but happened to come across this post about a week after I did the same, so if you or someone else need it, here's what I did. I've got an iframe in the header that has the a5w page below in it. The <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="120"> refreshes the page every 120 seconds; the <marquee scrolldelay="100"> causes it to scroll (in most modern browsers, anyway); the bannermsg table has a single editable field in a single record that I change to have whatever it needs to read. Hope it helps someone--I was a bit overwhelmed when ignorant but it ended up being really easy once I looked into it.

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta name="generator" content="Alpha Five HTML Editor Version 10 Build 3286-3590">
    <!-- must use in order to make XP Themes render -->
    <meta HTTP-EQUIV="MSThemeCompatible" content="Yes" />
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

    <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="120">

    <title></title>
    </head>
    <body>

    <%a5
    dim bannermsg as C
    dim cn as sql::connection
    cn.open("::Name::SQL Server Express")
    table = "BannerMsg"
    result_expression = "BannerMsgText"
    filter = "BannerMsgID = '1'"
    bannermsg=sql_lookup(cn,table,filter,result_expression)

        'Now, close the connection
        cn.close()
    %>

    <marquee scrolldelay="100"><font color="#ff0000" face="Calibri" align="center"><%a5
    ?bannermsg
    %></font></marquee>
    </body></html>
