Wildcards

OK, this should be easy, the hard part is already figured out.

Here is some XBasic that lets me write a file to a removable drive. I pulled it from a working app of mine. It's the last part of this post.

I simply want to change the code so that all files in a specific folder copy to a specific folder on the removable drive.

*.* should work as far as I know but it's not. I get an "expected value" error

I think the code on line-12 should look something like this:
file.copy2("C:\Mapco\output\*.*",dr+chr(92)+"MxAuditCount\Inbox\*.*")

What am I doing wrong ?

Why do you think this should work? Do you see anything in the documentation that indicates that the function accepts wildcards?

To do so you need to obtain a list of all the files in that folder. Filefind.get() will do this and does accept the wildcard (* or ?). You then process the list that Filefind.get() returns and copy each file in turn.

My solution was to write a batch file and run it from A5.

With that, I don't have to worry about if wild cards are acceptable to a specific function.

For anyone interested, batch files are still alive and well even with Win-7.
