Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Several groups on same report page

    Hi all,

I have invoicing system that needs to be printed out in 3 copies on same page.

Example: header of invoice no.1 goes into group header and items go in "details" section of report for repeating all items for invoice no.1
This all works great except the part where I need this to be repeated 3 times on the same page sheet. Same invoice same data.

I apologize in advance if there are similar threads, been searching for hours but couldn`t find anything helpful.

    Thanks,

    Samed

    Samed,

A report prints the records that fit the filter you define in the order you define.

How can you be certain that three invoices will fit on one page?
    There can be only one.

I am certain because these are specific types of invoices for specific job and they rarely have two "items" and as I calculated even with up to 5 items per invoice it would still fit, no problem.

Try designing a label that fits a third of a page. Design the invoice on that label. Print three copies of the label.

Phooey, that won't work since a label doesn't have a detail section. I'll look some more for an answer.

Ok, it can be done but it is not fun. If my attached pdf looks like what you want, let me know and I'll try to describe how I did it.

Thanks Stan, always to the rescue. Do tell me how you did it, this is exactly what I am trying to do.

            Thanks again

              Hi,

Just to let you know I won`t be taking any more of your time for this problem Stan :)
Solved it by placing 3 sub-reports into detail section of report. It worked like a charm.
Thanks anyway and sorry I wasted your time!

Re: Several groups on same report page

                Hello, anybody.

                Similar, I think, grouping problem..
Can someone point me to the correct report structure that prints and invoice header and footer but does not print a detail section but rather, a summary of the detail section.

An invoice is generated once a month for deliveries of various items. As an example, in the first week, a delivery might be for 3 of oxygen refill @ 9.00
and a second item for 4 nitrogen refills @ 13.00 each

In weeks 2, three and 4 of the same month, additional deliveries for the same items occur.

At billing time the total qty of oxygen refills might be 30
and the nitrogen refills might be 40

I have created a button that prints the 'invoice on screen' that does just that. This report has a report header a group 'inv_no' header a 'group1' footer and a report footer. The 'group1' footer is defined as break on 'part number'. The report is titled "summary service invoice"

A second button created to print multiple records and uses the same report simply does not work.

I assumed I need to re-design this report for batch mode printing.

As a guess, I duplicated the report, removed report header and footer sections, left break on invc number as 'group inv_no' and added a second group to break on part number. This and other attempts aren't working!!!

Since I have been unable to structure this report correctly, I hope someone can assist with the correct structure for this report.

                Regards to all,

                John Linley

Aren't working is a complicated technical description which I have trouble with.

Attach a sample database so we can see what is happening.

Stan: Thanks again for showing an interest to help. Don't know how you have the time and patience.
"aren't working" simply means I have failed at my most recent project. Namely, substituting a detail section wih a summary detail section and printing same in batch mode. I will attempt to dispatch a sample this evening.

                    Kind regards and thanks

A quick answer to your question. No!
But, I am still trying to get close enough to the correct structure to post a
more reasonable request for help. I will definitely get back to it this
                        weekend.

Kindest regards, hope all is well.

                          Stan:

I no longer need assistance with a solution to the structure of this report. Perseverance and experimentation, this time, has paid off. My report is working properly. I would be embarassed to tell how many hours I spent on this. But, I have gained report structure knowledge that I did not have before. Thanks again for your offers of help.

                          Regards, John

Re: Several groups on same report page

I have a field in a report that has numbers like:

                              57621

                              58621-E

When I print the record with the -E I would like for that record to be bold printed.

Can someone give me the expression for this in the properties format condition?
