    Default How to refresh the TabbedUI Header/Footer?

    Other then writing JavaScript, is there a way to refresh the TabbedUI Header and Footer areas? I am displaying session variables in the Header and Footer, which from time to time need to be updated.

    Just a thought John -

    What if you put the variables into an .a5w page, included the page in the header, and include a meta refresh within that a5w page?

    More thought on this John - if the refresh isn't smooth enough, put the a5w page in an iFrame in the header.

    Yeah, would be nice to just refresh a couple controls too....

    Once content is sent to the browser, only client-side scripting can change the content, e.g. JavaScript, be that by calling Xbasic or other code via AJAX or direct JavaScript commands. That is unrelated to Alpha5, it's more to do with how web pages work I think.

    @Steve.. Well I hadn't thought of using an iFrame or A5w page, I'll give it a try.
    @Andrea...I wanted to make sure that Alpha didn't have some Javascript function that I didn't know about before I go to the work of writing my own
    Thanks for your thoughts!

    Hm, what I would do is place the content you want to change in a named <div> tag, then use AJAX callbacks to change the content of that div. Something like the below if memory serves correctly:

    Code:
    $('divname').innerHTML = 'New content';
