    Default Total Records in Report

    Dumb question no. 101.........

    How can I show the total number of records in a report?

    i.e. do I have to use x-basic to count the number of records returned by the query and then pass this to the report using a variable?

    I am guessing there is a simple way to show the total number of records using a calculated field in the report editor - I just can't seem to find it, or any reference to it in help files.
    If computers are so clever how come someone as dumb as me has to tell them what to do?

    Hi Paul,

    Or the other way is to drag a field into the footer of the report and select Count.

    Depending whether you have Page or Report Footer, Alpha would create the calculated field for you.

    Something like these:

    cnt_names_Lname_for_Grand = count(names->Lname,grp->Grand,grp->detail)
    cnt_names_Lname_for_page = page_count(names->Lname)
