Im completely new to web based applications and right now Im doing some educational development.
Ive created a very basic, read only web application based on a single table. Im using security. I have a development computer and a server that for now is just used for testing purposes.
On the server, I have wiped the hard drive clean and install windows 2003 using all the default settings. Ive deployed an alpha 5v10 desktop application that works just fine. I installed the alpha 5v10 web application server.
Using my developmental machine, Ive created and deployed the web application. I have set up port forwarding on my router. If I set up my developmental machine as the web application server, I'm able to run my web application over the internet from other computers using their browser.
I published my web application on the sever by setting up a web project profile. I believe its recommended that the database files should not be stored in the a5webroot folder with the web application files for security reasons. Ive set up the file structure the same on both machines.
My problem: Im denied access to the data files on the server. I can bring up the application, I can log on, but when I try to navigate to a web page that displays a grid from the one table, I get an error message. Error opening grid table/view. Access is denied The message shows the proper path so Im assuming this is a security issue. Ive tried what I think would fix this problem but without any success.
Does anyone have any ideas?
