    Default FTP problem

    Hi,
    I am using the following:
    response = ftp_put_file("XX.XXX.XXX.XXX","user_name","password","C:\test.txt","c:\target.txt",.f.,"Sending file")
    ui_msg_box("",response)
    and getting an error which states:

    Could not get file C:\test.txt 0
    I am not sure what the 0 is for (from).
    What do I need to do to make the FTP work?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    hi jay,
    last week i had the same problem, the fix is simple see below

    ftp_put_file("xx.xx.xxx.xxx", "user", "password", "c:\logic\test.txt","/logic/test.txt")

    without the / before logic

    ftp_put_file("xx.xx.xxx.xxx", "user", "password", "c:\logic\test.txt","logic/test.txt")

    it is the //// not \\\\\ for the ftp folder

    Thanks for the quick response, Ken.
    I changed the script to read:

    response = ftp_put_file("XX.XXX.XXX.XXX","user_name","password","C:\test.txt","/target.txt",.f.,"Sending file")
    ui_msg_box("",response)
    but I am still getting the same error message. There is a file in the root directory of the C drive called test.txt, so I am not sure why this is not working.
    Any further thoughts?
    Thanks.

    ok search the forum with key word ftp
    you will see my same question this month

    i think your target folder should not have the drive letter?
    normally we do not address ftp with a letter, they are just folder.

    only your source has a drive letter?

    response = ftp_put_file("XX.XXX.XXX.XXX","user_name","password","C:\test.txt","/target.txt",.f.,"Sending file")

    try just...

    response = ftp_put_file("XX.XXX.XXX.XXX","user_name","password","C:\test.txt","target.txt",.f.,"Sending file") without the slash

    Here is the sample code from the help file:
    Code:
    ftp_put_file("www.alphasoftware.com", "alpha5", "password", "c:\learningcenter.asp","/technical_documentation/learningcenter.asp")
    Notice that the uploaded file is saved in the technical_documentation folder and there is no mention of a drive letter.

    That is not to say there should not be one, if it not the default drive.

    It appears to be a permissions issue on my server. I will pursue this and leave a message here to close this thread out.
    Thanks for all of your help.

    I was able to get the ftp command to work as suggested by Ken. Thanks, Ken.
    I got valuable help from this Micro$oft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/323384
    on how to set up ftp for Windows Server 2003, which is what my GoDaddy server is using for an OS.
    Thanks again for all the help.
