    Default Subfolders in Project

Is anyone using subfolders within a project? If so, how can you keep the paths straight. It looks like Alpha has programmed everything to work out of one folder but with a larger project this starts to be disorganized rather quickly.

    Thanks,

    Rod

Are you referring to components or dbf files?

    Peter,

Thanks for responding. Components, CSS, web pages, etc. The paths look to be coded in the tmpl variable but I cannot find any information on it.

This I don't know. 2-3 years ago there was a discussion on this in v7-v9 web forum? The guy had a huge app w. hundreds or thosuands of pages/components. He was trying to to the same thing. Not sure if he found a way. You can try searching to see if you can find it.

I face with the same problem. Hope that Alpha understand our need and improve the IDE.

As long as you specify a valid path from the web root you should be able to have as many sub directories as you like. It is probably easier if the directories are under the web root. There are security issues to sort out.

There's no way to manage a project with A5W pages and components in subfolders. You cannot create a new page or component in a subfolder, and Alpha won't behave properly if you manually move files to subfolders and try to work with them in the Developer.

Security CAN be applied to pages in subfolders, Jerry added that years ago. But it won't do you any good because security configuration assumes you are always in the root. So if you hit an unauthorized page in your subfolder, it will kick you back to the Login page (as it should) but not be able to find the login page because it is not in the subfolder, it's in the root.

Also all A5W pages assume any embedded components are in the root so you cannot move any components to a subfolder. If you use a5w_include() you would need to convert from relative to absolute paths.

There's just too many things that would not work.
